Coach Education
Townsville Hockey is committed to ensuring there continues to be appropriately qualified coaches at all levels of hockey. Whether you want to coach your club’s junior team or your ambition is to become a future coach of a Representative Team, Hockey Australia’s Hockey Ed coaching education programs can help you achieve your goals.
The Hockey Ed coaching education programs operate within the Australian Sports Commission’s National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS).
There are four levels of qualification:
The Community Coach training program is designed to train coaches in the basic concepts of coaching including group management and organisation, conducting modified games, and activity safety and enjoyment.
It is an enjoyable and straightforward training program involving an online learning session, an applied learning quiz and a practical evaluation.
The Level 1 Coach training program is designed to train coaches in the fundamental concepts of coaching, including group management and organisation, developing effective training sessions, performing the role of match-day coach, and ensuring the safety and enjoyment of players.
The Level 2 Coach program is designed to train coaches in the essential concepts of coaching, including planning and conducting training sessions, match-day role, hockey skills and tactics, playing styles and structures, junior development, communication, risk management, and ethical responsibilities.
It is a comprehensive training program involving seminars, pre- and post-seminar requirements, and a practical assessment.
